New! Taylor GS Mini!!
So here we are the 2010 Summer NAMM show in Nashville and what does Taylor do to us first thing. They have just introduced a new model...the all new GS Mini. A shorter scale (23.5") version of the GS with a big sound and tons of features. Production on these little amazing guitars will be very limited, so feel free to contact us to pre-order yours today.

Wechter "Nashville" Parlor: Wechter Elite Parlor "Nashville" Tuning. If you're wondering what "Nashville Tuning" is, just imagine what would happen if you were to take the octave strings off a 12 string and put them on a standard 6 string guitar.

You would have the higher pitch but unless the guitar was built for the lighter tension it would sound thin and it would not intonate properly.

Leave it to the guys at Wechter to solve those problems. This guitar features a Solid Cedar top with scalloped braces and Mahogany back and sides and a wonderful tone.

Customer Spotlight: Ron Eichaker With United Hebrew Congregation

Here at Fazio's, we are always keeping our eyes open for special guitars, and pairing them up with customers wanting very specific things in an instrument. Kind of like being a matchmaker. So when we learned that Taylor was bringing out a Limited Edition “700-series” guitar made from Imbuia wood, we knew right where it would be headed.

Ron Eichaker has been a loyal customer of Fazio's Frets and Friends since before the turn of the millenium. Really, he has! When Ron moved to St. Louis in the late 1990's, first on his list was to find a locally owned, service-oriented music store. After he walked into Fazio's, the search was over. Ron was recruited from Milwaukee to lead services as Cantor for United Hebrew Congregation right here in St. Louis. What began as guitar-based services has quickly blossomed into a vibrant, all-inclusive music program. The latest chapter in his tenure is a group guitar lesson program, using Fazio's exclusive curriculum. The new program, held after services on Sunday, will include beginning guitar students from the congregation looking to learn a new instrument, indulge in a new hobby, or even perhaps participate in musical performances. One of Fazio's instructors, Mike Franzel, will teach the class along with Cantor Ron, in what's sure to be a success.

One of Ron's first acquisitions from Fazio's was a 2001 Taylor Limited “300-series” made of Imbuia wood. Originally used in Taylor's line of acoustic basses, this Brazilian hardwood is known for it's tonal clarity and balanced yet robust tone. Because of this, it was a perfect choice of wood for the basses. It's very scarce, especially in bigger sets needed for the basses, so a stock of smaller sets became available. When the limited run in 2001 sold out quickly, the search for more quality Imbuia was on. Unfortunately it was simply unavailable.

Ron's 2001 Imbuia quickly became the “go-to” guitar in the sanctuary, due to it's full and unique sound. As Ron's program grew, he started to travel quite a bit performing. He was never able to replicate the sound of his Imbuia Taylor, and hesitated to travel with it, yet kept an eye out for just such a guitar. Luckily, this past spring, Bob Taylor was able to find a small supply of this rare tonewood, and built a Limited “700-series” Imbuia guitar. Paired with Hawiian Koa bindings and mini-wedge, this is one of the prettiest Limited's we've seen. Tonally, it was just what Cantor Ron had been searching for, and the two have logged many miles since it arrived at our door.

United Hebrew Congregation is located at Conway Road and Highway 141 (Woods Mill Road), just north of I-64.

L.R. Baggs Anthem Tru Mic System

The long (and I stress the long part) wait is finally over. The all new L.R. Baggs Anthem is finally here. After what has seemed like an eternity we finally have these amazing new pickups in stock and ready to install. This new design is a totally different take on how to amplify an acoustic guitar. Unlike all previous systems that used either a sound hole pickup or under saddle transducer which in combination with an internal condenser mic allowed you to roll in a little of the mic with the pickup always being in the forefront, this new system features a new concept in condenser mics mounted on the bridge plate with the under saddle trandsucer only bringing out the lowest frequencies. This gives you a more natural sound but with very high resistance to feedback. A huge plus for those of us who have very nice guitars that we don’t want to really alter the tone. The discreet control unit features a volume control, a blend to bring in more of the transducer, a phase switch, and a 5 segment L.E.D. which monitors your battery life. That means no more guessing if you’re going to make it through the gig without the battery dying. There is also a “lite” version of the Anthem Tru Mic system (Tru Mic SL) which gives you a volume control, but eliminates the blend control, the phase switch, and the battery monitor.
