TOMMY EMMANUEL
HANDS-ON GUITAR WORKSHOP
Wed October 7, 2009 / 7-10pm in the Fazio's performance room
Admission: $80 ($50 for students & Military with valid ID)
Two-time Grammy nominee Tommy Emmanuel has a professional career that spans over four decades and continues to intersect with some of the finest musicians throughout the world. A household name in his native Australia, Tommy has garnered hundreds of thousands of loyal fans worldwide. Tommy's unique style - he calls it simply "finger style" - is akin to playing guitar the way a pianist plays piano, using all ten fingers.
Guitar legend Chet Atkins was one of the first to inspire Emmanuel to pick up the guitar as a child. Decades later, Atkins himself became one of Emmanuel's biggest fans. In 1999, Chet honored Tommy Emmanuel with the title of "Certified Guitar Player" for his lifetime contribution to the instrument, a rare honor shared by only three other people in the world (Jerry Reed, Steve Wariner and John Knowles). Atkins eventually recorded with Tommy in 1996 on "The Day the Finger Pickers Took Over the World", for which Emmanuel received his first Grammy award nomination. This was also Atkins last recording.
Come and learn some fantastic techniques and guitar playing approaches from one of the finest guitarists on the planet on Wed. Oct. 07 @ 7 PM @ Fazio's. Remember to bring your guitar!!

BRIAN HENKE GUITAR WORKSHOP AND PERFORMANCE
Saturday September 12, 2009 / 2:00pm in the Fazio's performance room
Admission: $20
His unique guitar style has been called everything from Folk to New Age to Neo-Classical to Pastoral or as Brian likes to call it "a big stewpot of everything, stirred up, simmered and served to taste." His music appeals to anyone who like their music lyrical, thought provoking and performed with virtuosity. Through it all is an undercurrent of spirituality and mysticism that Brian says is very much apart of the creative process. Because of this he has received radio air play on shows as varied as WKSUs "Folk Alley" and John Dilbertos "Echoes". He has also shared the bill on the concert stage with acts as diverse as Yes, Linda Ronstadt, Steve Morse, Yngvie Malmsteen, Robin and Linda Williams, Richie Havens, Christine Lavin, TheKingston Trio, Glen Yarborough, Alison Brown, Adrian Belew, Spiro Gyra and many of the best acoustic guitarists in the world including Pete Huttlinger, Alex DeGrassi, Stephen Bennett, John Doan, Beppe Gambetta, Dan Crary, Laurence Juber and many, many others.
A winner of many acoustic and electric guitar awards, he has also been a finalist in the prestigious National Fingerstyle Contest in Winfield, Kansas, the National Guitarmageddon regional finals in Boston and New Age Reporters Top 10 for 2006.

CHARLIE HUNTER GUITAR WORKSHOP AND PERFORMANCE
Saturday January 24, 2009 @ 2pm! Admission: $20
Join us as we welcome the incredible 8-string guitarist Charlie Hunter for a unique
guitar workshop & performance experience. Charlie is undoubtedly one of the more
innovative guitarists on the scene today. In 'one man band' fashion, he combines
bass, chords, and melodic lines on an instrument that creates a range far beyond
that of a 6-string guitar. Charlie will demonstrate how he approaches this
instrument and plays styles ranging from jazz, rock, & funk to various world music. Check out this link for a preview of what you are likely to see & hear...

ORRIN STAR FLATPICKING WORKSHOP
Live in the Fazio's performance room!
Monday October 27, 2008 @ 6:30-8:45pm!
Admission: $60
A Description of this event from the artist:
The term workshop is used so freely nowadays that it encompasses everything from brief show & tell sessions to detailed teaching encounters. My workshops are of the latter variety. Participants bring their instruments (and audio recorders if they wish), we sit in a big semi-circle, and I spend some of the time going around one-on-one to give individual feedback. Limited to 10 participants including a written hand-out summarizing what we have covered. Here are brief descriptions of the workshop that I will offer at Fazio's:
LEAD FLATPICKING: What The Tab Won't Tell You
Youve got the books and tabs, play some fiddle tunes, are starting to feel at
home playing leadsnow what? In this workshop we zero-in on the subtleties: why
and how certain notes should be accented; using timing strums to make for
colorful pauses; and making a rhythm statement with your lead playing.

RICHARD GILEWITZ PERFORMANCE & WORKSHOP
Brought to you by Breedlove Guitars
Thursday October 9, 2008 7:00pm
Admission: $ FREE !!
Fazio's and Breedlove Guitars present the guitar stylings of Richard Gilewitz.
Known as one of the strangest men in acoustic music today, Richard Gilewitz fascinates
his audiences with fingerstyle gymnastics on his 6 and 12-string guitars while spinning
yarns too unbelievable not to be true. But it is his live shows that bring out the best
in this author, composer, guitarist, humorist, AND storyteller who follows a distinct
cadence that creates a glow that continually grows a little brighter with each tune.

Official Richard Gilewitz Website
